People Spotlight: Chloe Sinet
23 June 2025
To mark International Women in Engineering Day, we’re celebrating Chloe Sinet, a talented team member who’s building a career in engineering through determination and practical learning.
A Career Built on Curiosity and Confidence

Chloe’s journey into engineering began early, with a Foundation Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering while still at school. “It was a brilliant experience,” she reflects. “I had the chance to go to college while still finishing school, and it opened my eyes to what a career in engineering could look like.”
Instead of following the traditional university route, Chloe joined Scottish Water Horizons as a Modern Apprentice in Project Management, where she’s spent the past two years gaining qualifications and hands-on experience.
“I’ve learned so much just by being surrounded by fantastic people. Every day is different, and I’ve been able to develop my understanding while studying at the same time. That mix of learning and doing is exactly what I was looking for.”
In her role, Chloe has supported planning activities, worked alongside contractors, and helped deliver projects – experiences that have helped her see how everything fits together.
Learning by Doing and Feeling Supported
One of Chloe’s favourite parts of her role is getting out on site.
“Seeing the works in progress really brings everything together for me. When I see how things are actually built, it helps everything click. It makes the planning and project management side so much clearer, and it’s just really satisfying to see it all come to life.”
She also credits her development to the people she works with.
“One of the best parts of working at Horizons is being part of such a supportive and encouraging team. Everyone is happy to answer questions and share their experience. You feel like people genuinely want to see you succeed, and that’s made a huge difference in my confidence.”

Chloe’s drive to learn, ask questions, and get stuck in is laying the foundation for a long-term future in the industry.
“Engineering isn’t just technical. There’s creativity and a lot of problem-solving involved. It’s about thinking differently and making things happen.”
More Than Just a Job
Outside of work, Chloe enjoys catching up with friends, staying active, and the occasional binge-watch.
“My perfect Saturday? Sunny weather, good friends, and heading out for cocktails somewhere fun. I love getting out and socialising, but I also make time for myself. I really enjoy going to the gym and going for walks. It helps me reset and stay focused.”
Chloe also has big travel ambitions.
“Nashville and Texas are high on my list, they just look amazing, and any excuse to wear my cowboy boots! But I’d also love to go to the Maldives. The beaches look unreal.”
And when it’s time to switch off? “I just finished Criminal Minds, which took forever because it’s been going for so long – but I was hooked!”

Advice for Future Engineers
Although still early in her career, Chloe is passionate about encouraging more young women to consider opportunities in engineering.
“There are so many ways into this industry, and you don’t have to follow a traditional path. If you’re curious, open to learning, there’s a place for you here.”
Chloe’s story reflects what we value most at Horizons: curiosity, growth, and teamwork. This International Women in Engineering Day, we’re proud to celebrate the next generation of women engineers – people like Chloe, who are helping shape the future of our industry.
