People Spotlight: Fay Robb
Senior Project Manager
20 February 2026
We caught up with Fay to talk about her career journey, her promotion to Senior Project Manager, and what motivates her both in and out of work.
Tell us a little bit about your career journey so far

After finishing my degree in Economics and Politics at the University of Dundee, I joined Scottish Water’s Graduate Programme in 2018. The two-year programme gave me valuable exposure across the Customer Services Directorate and helped me build a strong operational understanding of the business.
Since then, I’ve been lucky to work in a variety of roles, including within the Flooding Team, before moving into Horizons.
What kind of work do you do in Horizons?
When I started in Horizons, I worked in project management, focusing on infrastructure projects designed to upgrade water and wastewater networks to support future development across Scotland.
More recently, I’ve moved into a Senior Project Manager role, where I now lead our consultancy and asset vesting teams. It’s a new challenge and I’m very much looking forward to continuing to develop in this space.
What are you enjoying most about your role?
I am still finding my feet; however, I’m really enjoying the challenge of learning new skills and working with teams and stakeholders I haven’t previously worked with. It’s been a great opportunity to broaden my experience.
Biggest highlight of your experience so far?
One of my favourite things about working in Horizons is the support and encouragement to get involved in activities outside of the normal day job.
I’ve had the privilege of working as an MCR Pathways mentor – a programme supporting young people who need extra encouragement to stay engaged in education. Over the past year, I’ve been helping a student build confidence and succeed at school, which has been incredibly rewarding.

What’s next for you?
In terms of work, I’m focused on developing my skills as a line leader and building my knowledge within asset vesting and consultancy.
In my personal life, I’m now immersed in wedding planning after getting engaged in December – and the reality of how expensive everything is!
What do you enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy staying active, so most of my spare time is spent at the gym, walking my dog or, more recently, training for my first half marathon in May.
Where would you most like to visit?
I’ve travelled quite a bit around Southeast Asia and loved that part of the world. Next on my bucket list is the Philippines, as the beaches look like paradise.
Something people might not know about you?
I love to ski and competed in downhill skiing competitions in Austria and France when I was younger.

Favourite food?
After spending a month in Thailand, Thai cuisine is by far my favourite type of food. The fragrant, bold flavours and fresh ingredients cannot be beaten.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
“Start before you feel ready.” I think this applies to all aspects of life, whether in your personal life or at work. It can be scary to make a change or try something new, but if you wait until you feel “ready,” it might never happen.
It’s great to see Fay progressing her career while continuing to support the development of essential infrastructure across Scotland.
