A Night to Remember
Apprentices Shine at Holyrood

11 March 2025

Among the standout attendees was Cameron Clark, one of our Modern Apprentices, who was recently crowned Net Zero Scottish Apprentice of the Year – a testament to his commitment to sustainability and the transition to a greener future.

Over 100 talented apprentices attended the exclusive evening at the Scottish Parliament.

Sponsored by Pam Gosal MBE MSP, the event highlighted the vital role apprentices play in shaping the future of Scotland’s economy. Almost 100 apprentices had the opportunity to network with key decision-makers and share their experiences, with Cameron serving as a shining example of what apprenticeships can achieve.

The evening included a speech from Graeme Dey MSP, Minister for Higher and Further Education, who talked about the importance of apprenticeships in driving Scotland’s future workforce. He praised apprentices for their contributions to Scotland’s economy, emphasising the role they play in sustainability and economic growth.

Graeme also congratulated Cameron on his success at winning at this year’s Scottish Apprenticeship awards that took place in Perth earlier this month.

L-R: John Lenehan, Project Manager, with Cameron Clark, Net Zero Scottish Apprentice of the Year.

Reflecting on his award, Cameron said: “Winning the Net Zero Scottish Apprentice of the Year award has been an incredible honour. It’s great to see apprenticeships being recognised as a key part of Scotland’s drive toward sustainability. Events like this show just how much apprentices contribute – not just to their industries, but to the country’s future.”

Also in attendance was John Lenehan, one of our talented mentors who has guided and supported several apprentices and graduates throughout their careers.

Speaking on the importance of mentorship, John added: “Seeing apprentices like Cameron thrive is exactly why mentoring is so rewarding. Their passion and commitment are what drive innovation and progress in our industries. All of our Modern Apprentices in Horizons have made a significant contribution, taking on meaningful responsibility, and driving projects to completion – it’s a great success story for everyone.”

The evening, led by Skills Development Scotland, was filled with inspiring speeches, networking opportunities, and recognition of Scotland’s rising talent. These events not only showcase the achievements of individuals like Cameron, but they also help inspire the next generation to follow in their footsteps.

Congratulations to Cameron and all the apprentices who took part in this incredible event!
